Now We're Live wasn't the first song I made this way. It was the fourth. Here are the other three, and the skill that built all of them.
N+1
The first one. A 3 a.m. pager, a p99 graph climbing, and a production log scrolling SELECT ... WHERE post_id = 3, then 4, then 5. One query for the posts and a thousand for the ghosts. If you've ever forgotten an includes, this one's for you.
Gotta Catch 'Em All Gone
Two hours in the online queue for an Elite Trainer Box, only to watch the bots and scalpers get it first. As someone who collects and trades Pokémon cards, I wrote this one from experience. Magikarp used Splash on my refresh key.
Ten-Eight, Wichita
My brother is a rookie officer in Wichita, Kansas. I have no idea what most of these references are... but his response was "That’s so weirdly accurate"
The skill
All four came out of lyric-film, a Claude Code skill I built and have now open sourced. You give it a topic, and it works through the whole pipeline:
- Song. It digs up the insider details of the topic and writes a tight, hook-first electropop song where every line is something you can draw. I generate the track in Suno.
- Timing. It separates the vocal, aligns every word, and spreads each word's letters across the time it's sung, so held notes fill slowly.
- Scenes. It plans one scene per lyric line, writes a reference scene, then builds the rest in parallel with HyperFrames.
- Check and render. It snapshots every scene, checks the fill on the longest held notes, and renders a 1080p60 MP4.
The biggest lesson from the first film: great visuals don't matter if the chorus doesn't stick. The skill now treats the hook as non-negotiable.
To try it:
adam ~/akdarrah $ git clone https://github.com/akdarrah/lyric-film ~/.claude/skills/lyric-film
Then ask Claude Code for /lyric-film a song about <anything>. I'd love to see what you make.
