Privacy policy
Last updated October 28, 2026.
akdarrah.com is a personal blog operated by AKDARRAH LLC, an Indiana limited liability company (AKDARRAH LLC, Carmel, Indiana). This page says what the site collects, why, and who else sees it. It collects very little, and sells none of it.
Reading
You can read everything without an account. To count visits, the site records the page, the referring site's domain, and whether you're on a phone, tablet or desktop. Instead of a cookie it stores a one-way hash of your IP address and browser, salted with a random value that changes every day and is thrown away, so the hash can't be turned back into your IP or linked across days. Your IP address itself isn't stored with these records. Visit records are deleted after 13 months. Pressing ↯ on a post stores the same kind of hash and the date, so each visitor counts once a day.
Like any web server, it also sees your IP address while handling a request: it uses it briefly to limit abuse (rate limiting), and it can appear in short-lived server logs.
Accounts, comments and email
Signing in, commenting and subscribing all start with your email address, which gets a one-time sign-in link. Your account holds your email address, the name you choose, when you last signed in, and whether you asked to get new posts by email. Each signed-in session records the IP address and browser it was started from.
Comments store your name, email address and what you wrote, plus the same daily hash as above. Your name and comment are shown publicly once approved; your email address is not. New comments may wait for review, and the site emails the admin a copy.
If you subscribe, you get an email when a new post goes up, and the site records which posts it sent you. Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also turn it off at /account.
Cookies
The site sets a session cookie needed for forms to work securely, and a sign-in cookie once you sign in. There are no advertising, tracking or third-party analytics cookies.
Services that see your data
- DigitalOcean hosts the site and its database.
- Resend delivers the site's email (sign-in links, the newsletter), so it handles your email address and the message.
- Google Fonts: your browser loads the site's fonts from Google, which sees your IP address and browser.
- YouTube: posts with a video embed it from youtube-nocookie.com, which sees your IP address when the post loads and sets cookies only if you play the video. Feeds and emails show its thumbnail from i.ytimg.com instead.
When a post is published, its address is sent to search engines through IndexNow; that includes no data about you. There are no ads, no affiliate links and no payments on this site.
Your choices
At /account you can change your name, stop the newsletter or delete your account. Deleting it removes your email address and name, signs you out everywhere, and leaves your past comments showing as "deleted user". To get a copy of your data, correct it, or have comments removed, email hello@akdarrah.com.
Children
The site isn't meant for children under 13, and accounts aren't for them. If you think a child under 13 has given us an email address, write to us and we'll delete it.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, this page will show the new date. Questions go to hello@akdarrah.com or AKDARRAH LLC, Carmel, Indiana.
